Lexus Introduces All-New Electrified RZ500e to the Middle East

Lexus announces the launch of the all-new RZ500e in the Middle East, marking the first introduction of a Lexus SUV Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) in the region. Purpose-built from the ground up as a dedicated BEV, the RZ represents a significant milestone in the brand’s electrification journey and symbolizes the next phase of Lexus Electrified in its commitment toward carbon neutrality.

Since pioneering electrification in the luxury segment with the RX400h in 2005, Lexus has continuously pursued a balance between driving performance and environmental responsibility. With the RZ500e, Lexus deepens that philosophy, delivering a fully electric SUV that embodies the brand’s distinctive driving character and emotionally engaging design, brought to life through advanced electrification technologies.

The new RZ500e features a completely redesigned BEV system, refined platform dynamics, and an evolved all-wheel-drive system. Together, these advancements enhance “The Natural” driving concept and further deepen the uniquely enjoyable driving feel recognized as the Lexus Driving Signature.

Commenting on the introduction of the new RZ, Lexus International Chief Engineer said: “Lexus is committed to refining electrification technologies to enhance the fundamental joy of driving and deliver new driving experiences. At the Toyota Technical Center Shimoyama (TTC-S), engineers and professional drivers work together on test courses designed to replicate demanding road conditions, rigorously refining the vehicle’s core performance. Moving forward, Lexus will continue to push the boundaries of its signature driving experience by seamlessly integrating cutting-edge hardware and software.”

At the heart of the RZ500e is a fully redesigned battery electric system developed with relentless focus on core BEV performance. A newly developed high-capacity lithium-ion battery incorporates improved battery cells and an increased number of cells, enabling the integration of high-output motors and a newly developed eAxle with enhanced inverter efficiency. This results in significantly higher motor output, improved energy efficiency, and reduced power loss across the system.

The increased battery capacity and optimized battery pack structure contribute to an extended driving range, ensuring greater confidence for customers whether commuting daily or traveling longer distances. Improvements to the onboard charger and charging functionality further enhance charging performance, reducing charging time and improving overall convenience. By optimizing battery characteristics, cooling systems, and charging control strategies, Lexus ensures that the RZ500e delivers both performance and practicality suited to modern driving lifestyles.

Additionally, the BEV system utilizes a water-cooling configuration that supports sustained performance while maintaining thermal stability. By thoroughly reassessing battery capacity, battery pack structure, and charging systems, Lexus achieves not only stronger acceleration performance but also enhanced energy efficiency, reinforcing the RZ’s capability as a refined and capable luxury BEV.

Beyond powertrain advancements, Lexus has elevated the driving experience through refinements to the dedicated e-TNGA platform, developed exclusively for battery electric vehicles. This architecture places the battery beneath the floor, creating a low center of gravity that enhances stability, improves body balance, and contributes to dynamic handling characteristics while maintaining excellent ride comfort.

Rigidity enhancements further refine vehicle fundamentals. Connected frame sections have been reinforced and panel joints strengthened to deliver excellent body rigidity. The radiator support area and rear body structure are reinforced to reduce torsional deformation, resulting in improved straight-line stability and enhanced steering responsiveness. These refinements enable the driver to control the vehicle with greater accuracy and confidence.

Central to the RZ500e’s dynamic character is the evolution of Lexus’ DIRECT4 all-wheel-drive system. By integrating high-output motors and a newly developed eAxle with enhanced inverter efficiency at both the front and rear axles, Lexus refines torque distribution control to deliver superior traction and stability. During acceleration and straight-line launches, torque is dynamically adjusted to provide a direct, smooth response. During cornering, torque distribution is optimized to ensure precise line tracing and stable exit acceleration.

By faithfully supporting the driver’s intentions, DIRECT4 strengthens the sense of unity between vehicle and driver, a defining element of the Lexus Driving Signature. Integration with Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) further enhances stability and emergency handling performance, ensuring confidence across varied road conditions.

The RZ500e also achieves exceptional quietness, a defining attribute of Lexus BEVs. In keeping with the Japanese philosophy of Omotenashi, Lexus applies comprehensive noise-reduction measures to create a calm and refined cabin environment. To ensure optimal comfort in the region’s climate, the RZ500e adopts Middle East-exclusive tuning for its air conditioning system. Features include IR cut glass to reduce heat intrusion and seat ventilation for enhanced occupant comfort.
